Only a crazy person would be up at 3:30am worrying about what's out of my hands. I don't know about you but Satan many times attacks me in the middle of the night with worry. It seems like every small difficulty I'm facing in my life is magnified and thrown in my face at night by the deceiver and father of lies. the worst part of all this is I begin to believe those lies and the more thought I give those lies, the worse it gets and the more miserable I feel.
For me God's Word is most like a sword in the night. Many times the only way for me to overcome these satanic attacks is to literally quote scripture as Jesus did to Satan in the wilderness.
Scriptures I'm throwing at Satan tonight are ....
Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Luke 12:25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you;my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
I believe God delights when we use His word to counter Satans lies. When I quote scripture in the night I am reassured that God loves me, God sees me, God knows me, God is working on my behalf and that He cares for me. His word is literally right now at this moment alive and powerful to me. I am resting in what He says in His word and I consider Satan put in His place when I choose to CLAIM what God has said. God's word is TRUTH and if I believe it is TRUTH I will rest in it.
Jesus, I am resting Your peace now.
I love you dear friend. I am glad that when faced with the lies and anxiety that you are fighting it with Truth! I'm sure the bible study you all were doing is a great help with this struggle. :)
ReplyDeletePhil. 4:4-8 "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. "
2 Tim. 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
SO true....in the Bible study, Believing God, we are on the week on His word being alive and active in us....sending love and prayers...
ReplyDeletePsalm 131
DeleteLord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.
I don’t concern myself with matters too great
or too awesome for me to grasp.
2 Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—
now and always.
